It's about time we officially introduce you to our founder!
Tell us a little about yourself and your family
I’m Clare, by the grace of God I am a wife, a mum to 3 beautiful girls and the founder of Silk Bubs. I have been working in the fashion e-commerce industry for more than 10 years with quite a few high street brands and after the pandemic have found myself in a career transition to another industry. It’s been a whirlwind but a great challenge!
How did Silk Bubs come about?
The idea for Silk Bubs came about when my third daughter was about 5 months old. She had developed a bald spot at the back of her head just like my first baby girl. I started to think about how to adapt everyday products to be gentle on babies' hair, and then Silk Bubs was born at the end of 2019!
I wanted Silk Bubs to be a design led children’s brand creating quality products, using only the finest silk. Also to develop investment pieces that can be passed on as your family grows.
How do you juggle motherhood, full time work and running a business?
That’s a good question! I don’t know myself sometimes! I would say that planning helps to make the days go smoother but also I try not to take things too seriously. I try to allow myself some down time as much as possible, just to recharge and reset.
What’s your favourite Silk Bubs product and why?
It has to be the Silk Cot Sleeve, I guess because it’s the first baby of Silk Bubs and holds a special place in my heart. It is where it all began!
What’s next for you? What are your dreams and goals?
I would like to do some travelling and make up for lost time during the pandemic. I would love to visit my sister in law in Guadeloupe, I know she would be over the moon to have us all there. I would also love to visit our manufacturers in China, and take an in depth look at our product process.
I hope that Silk Bubs will help a lot mothers and babies around the world, because I know that I could have used something just like this when I had my first daughter.
